Miami greeted me with the rainbow and some generous amount of tropical rain. I went to the beach and got myself completely soaked by it while meditating for god knows how long, letting the rain pour down my face. I don't know when was last time I did that...
The next couple of days I spent sun bathing and trying to avoid stalkers, who claimed to be Spanish singers with the mansion on the island to which he wanted to go by bus. I just wanted to lay on the beach, swim in the ocean and, otherwise, do nothing...
Everyone can be anyone in Miami. In fact almost every other person I met was some kind of celebrity. It is a matter of how good your story is... it is sort of like Las Vegas but without the desert and the casinos.
My friend Lili arrived soon enough to rescue me from some stalkers and from me being too nice, if you can believe that..
We, of course, went to Mangos again to visit our friend Andres who works there. And he was there, waiting :) Mangos is famous for its tropical atmosphere, drinks and exotic Latin dancers - guys and girls.
After some recommendations, we decided to visit Miami's newly renovated night club Karu & Y. I have to say I have never seen a night club so big and so crowded. It took us more than an hour in the guest list line to get in, which by itself is unheard of and something we'd normally never do.
I have to mention that this and other Miami clubs must be running some sort of scam, because even though you have in your hands a stub that says "ticket" on it or a wrist band, you still have to pay admission. I did not understand that.
But despite these minor down sides, Karu & Y was worth it. The rooms are nicely decorated in various styles with two outside areas with plants and couches, and a giant snowflake-like glass sculpture worth half a million dollars which hangs in the restaurant part of the club. Djs were playing house, trance, hip hop and some Spanish music in each of the five rooms. It was hard not to dance even in high heels.
Glamor LA crowd is probably the best way to describe people at this club. So as much as we tried to get away from Bay area, when we ran into guys from San Jose, it was a relief. We seem to be much nicer, friendlier people!
Most of the time though Lili and I spent burying our feet in sand, rolling around on the beach, getting dirty, taking pictures and floating in the turquoise color waters - favorite thing to do...
On the way back I found that the world didn't fall apart without me online and overheard another bay area man who just came back on the same flight saying to someone "I gotta keep unplugging"...
I couldn’t agree more.
