View Article  Winter Solstice at the Buddhist temple
I and Maggie celebrated Winter Solstice this year by going to the Buddhist temple in the north bay called Green Gulch or Green Dragon temple. It was a beautiful cleansing experience which allowed us to get rid of stress accumulated this year and reconnect with nature and ourselves.   more »

I took a walk today to the San Fracisco's pier number one, near the Ferry building and, near the Bay Bridge, where 58,000-gallon of oil got spilled a week ago. I wanted to get some fresh ocean air and to see how the bay is doing.   more »

These largest and oldest trees on our planet are facing the saw. Yes, it is true. I couldn't believe it until I got a letter from the Sierra Club in the mail! Apparently logging of these 3, 500-year old trees is recommended by the Forest Services for various reasons. This measure is wildly opposed by the National Park services, the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations.   more »

The mountains around Murphys north east of San Francisco attract with their dry hey smell, gorgeous views, refreshing creeks and lakes, fascinating caverns and very little crowds. But this summer even the locals noticed, the water levels are lower than usual.   more »

I must say it always puzzled me. The point of view of many animal rescue activists, who firmly believe that without their help, animals cannot survive. Animals raised in captivity, they say, will die in the wild. They cannot hunt, cannot find food on their own, they will die, die, they say. Well, I don’t believe them.    more »
