Today’s afternoon has been marked by a significant celestial event. Venus was crossing in front of our Sun for about 7 hours. And even though Venus appeared nothing more than a little black dot and could only be seen with special solar filters, it was a big deal in history! This event is not going to happen again until 2117. Many people around the world got an excellent view and took pictures. Here is how it looked like in Northern California, USA. Nice!
That is very cool. If you liked that you should watch an occult sometime. I saw only one back when I was 14 years old. Venus was moving behind the Moon. I watched through a telescope as it got closer and closer. At the very last second as it touched the moons surface it got very bright, lit up mountains and valleys on the moon that I couldn’t see until it moved behind them, and then was gone.
It’s still one of the best memories I have.
