London: Burn the Bankers?

“The 'revolution starts here” reads the headline of London's Guardian Sunday March 29, 2009. As many as 35,000 people came out to the streets today attending the march through central London, calling the government to “Put People First”.

This comes as the world leaders are gathering for the G20 summit in London this week. I was surprised to read that some people were chanting “Burn the Bankers” and at least one professor wanted to lynch them.

Now we will see if the people with power and money will take simple people seriously. History has plenty of examples of what happens when they don't. I suggest they do.

In case you are wondering if there is anything going on in San Francisco related to this protest, there is! I just got this forwarded to me:

April Fool! (Second Annual Federal Reserve protest)
We are putting together a street action, protest, and flyer event on Wed April 1, 2009 at 10am. This will be held at the San Francisco Federal Reserve branch.
This is a great time to talk with people about the economy, and get them interested in the really big event which will be coming together on April 25th, 2009.
Save the date for April 1, April 15th (tax day), and April 25th (End the Fed day).
April is the month we let them know who is paying all the bills. Spread the word, get people interested! Announcements are going up on Meetup sites, mailing lists, and more. Get the information out.
