Saturday night was promising to be a great night for dancing. Dubfire from Deep Dish was coming to San Francisco club Ruby Skye, and the club sent out guest list invitation to half of San Francisco and that many showed up.
The guest list line stretched out along the whole block and wrapped around the corner, pushing people uncomfortably close to big stinking garbage containers sitting on the side walk. It was only 11 pm but I could already tell there was no way this line would shrink by midnight when the guest list time was up.
I watched for a while what was happening at the entrance. People kept arriving, walking straight to the security, who were blocking the entrance, slipping pieces of paper into their hands with dollar bills, and then, magically, they were able to enter the club. At times, some of them would return and add more money to their papers. Security would check the “paper work” again, and let them in. This is the line that was definitely moving.
Meanwhile, in the guest list line, people getting yelled at by security, were starting to lose patience. Some girl grabbed her group of friends, yelled out loud “This is bullshit” and left.
By midnight, the guest list was over and more than half of the guest list line was still outside.
So if you find yourself in that guest list line one of these nights, still waiting outside, do what I did.
Throw a private party at your house with DJ mix downloadable online from a group of very talented DJS from Chicago called NorDJs. No hassle, no line and no cover.
This is the one I played last night.
And these guys are brilliant!
Yeah, you're welcome
