Burning Man people gather religiously for their annal Decompression, a party with music, art and food, a mini-burning man re-inaction, this time not in the desert, but in the outskirts of San Francisco. This year it was October 12, 2008, a clear and sunny day, so you can see the crowd standing in line on the overpass off Highway 280 and Mariposa exit from a mile away.
About 10 blocks on one street were blocked off for the festival. Booths with space ships shooting up streams of fire, huge art pieces, djs, dancers, and of course, drums were aligned on both part of the street. A park in the middle was used for bigger sculpture pieces with philosophical meaning.
Many regulars say it is their favorite event of the year, they wait for it all year long. They say it is their chance to see long time friend and hug and dance and support each other. Burning man people have been known for their sense of community. They embrace each other and show support. Anon Salon is where many of them gather for their regular themed parties in San Francisco.
But Decompression is also an outdoor event. One that lasts from noon to 10 pm, not including after parties.
