Unexpected power outage interrupted the mix of DJ Tiesto
and shut down a huge festival of electronic music at Cow Palace an hour earlier
Saturday night. About 10 thousand
people, who paid about $80 per ticket, waited and waited and cheered and
cheered “ti-es-to”, but there was no more music to come. Boy, they were pissed.
Some of them actually thought Tiesto was doing it on purpose.
PG&E truck was right outside the Cow Palace
confirming the announcement earlier about the power outage. At this point most
everyone realized it was PG&E, who’s been fixing power outages all day Saturday
in different areas due to their equipment failure.
I wonder how many people thought of asking for a refund
from (PG&E-?) since they had the show of the world famous DJ Tiesto cut an
hour short.
DJ Tiesto, who’s touring North America with his new
album “In search of sunrise” (btw, very nice trance), issued an apology on his
website:
“I offer my sincerest apologies
for the power outage.
I
was waiting in the dressing room until 1.45 am, at which time I was informed
that there was no way for the party to continue.
I had an amazing time for the time I was able to perform and I look forward to
coming back to San Francisco very soon.”
I have to say that besides
the power outage, it was a fun night. The music mix was exquisite. Too bad the
Cow Palace only runs parties until 2 am. But the nice part is you can buy
snacks and there are plenty of chairs to sit on.
It's been such a long time since my last rave. Must have been at least 6 years (?)….. Swimming through the sea of people I couldn't help but wonder how many 14 year old kids were there. Just like back then, they sit in packs on the floor with big loopy eyes staring at the light show produced by a caring break dancer, fellow raver. Touchy, feely, lovey, dovey….

Oh yeah… raves still go on… are your kids there already?
