Education for a Better Nation

Today around 11 in the morning a dozen or so demonstrators marched across down town San Francisco holding signs and yelling something into the mega phone. “Education is a human right,” one sign said. “Education for a better nation,” was another one I saw. People working in the buildings nearby opened their windows and hung out to see what the noise was all about. After a few minutes, the windows were closed and it was back to business as usual as the demonstrators proceeded along Sansome street towards Market.

I wondered what their message meant. It is not like there is no educational opportunities. It is expensive (anywhere from $5,000 to $55,000 a year), but there is financial aid, loans and part time options. So you can get education in this nation. The questions is – how good is it?

Looking back at my educational experience at SFSU, I could definitely come up with a list of suggestions for improvements.

The sign that I was thinking of was “Better Education for the Nation” and “Better Financial Aid”.
